About

Star Trek: Frontier (STF) is an RPG set in 2378, just 3 years after the Dominion War. Set aboard Deep Space 13, STF focuses on the stories and adventures of the crews of several Federation starships operating on the frontier.

The intent behind gameplay is that the station has a chronic staff shortage, and so crews rotate regularly as needed to fill gaps and voids depending on the mission profile. An ensign on the USS Thunderchild might get back to base only to get snatched up to fill a void on the USS Justice. This allows players to create multiple characters that they can pick and choose to go on missions based on what the GM specifies, allowing the players and GMs flexibility. After the mission is complete, the GM can then file an after action report that then gets woven into the greater STF narrative, allowing even one-off missions to have an impact on the overall story without needing players or GMs to commit to a long campaign.

Roleplay Safety

The safety of everyone involved in Star Trek: Frontier is of utmost importance to ensure everyone partaking has a good time while engaging with the community.

In-Game Safety

The primary method of protection for players is the use of the Streetlight System, which uses the following colors to indicate player consent:

At any point, a player or GM may indicate any of the four colors and the others involved are expected to react immediately. Players will never be retaliated against for choosing to end an uncomfortable scene. Anyone may indicate this status any way they fell comfortable, either with colored indicator status, noting it in chat, verbalizing their status, or simply private messaging the person running the scene.

While we encourage spectators during roleplay events, because they are not actively engaged in play, they have the right and ability to leave if a scene becomes uncomfortable for them. This is to allow scenes to focus on its actual participants.

Out-of-Game Safety

As a community, our goal is the safety of everyone both in and out of game, and for this reason swift action will be taken against anyone who harasses, bullies, or otherwise makes another player uncomfortable through their actions. If this happens, notify a member of staff with details of the event, including witnesses, screenshots of chat, and other corroborating evidence. If staff feels there is sufficient evidence, we will begin the disciplinary process.

Discipline within Star Trek: Frontier is a 4-strike system in most cases, though there are naturally exceptions such as posting illegal material. In most circumstances, discipline is handled based on each occurrence:

If a player is banned from the community, they may not rejoin with alternative accounts. The discovery of an alternative account following a ban will result in an immediate and permanent ban of the alternative account and further disciplinary action as required.

Please note that sometimes players can be disciplined for offenses that are not strictly in the rules, but their actions are deemed an offense by the spirit, if not strictly the letter of the guidelines. In the event of such occurrences, a player may appeal their disciplinary action to a staff tribunal, who will determine if the disciplinary action stands and, if necessary, add additional verbiage to the rules to either add a rule or clarify existing rules. Players will not be punished for seeking such an appeal.

Adult Content

Star Trek: Frontier is rated 16+ for most interactions. This means that Not Safe for Work (NSFW) material should be limited to specific portions of the community marked as such. These areas are strictly 18+, and will require verification to ensure the member is allowed to participate.

Even so, in the NSFW sections, certain material like pornography and adult literature is not permitted. These areas should be considered a "Soft-R", and are mainly meant for discussing or posting material that would not be suitable in other areas of the community.

Players who wish to participate in adult activities will be required to do so in private and not in the public Discord areas. It is the player(s) choice whether the results of such activities are reflected in the broader roleplay, such as pregnancy.

Player v. Player (PvP)

Player v. player combat can and sometimes does occur, but only if both parties are fully consenting and the consequences are understood. For example, if two characters engage in a friendly spar with padded melee weapons, they will be unlikely to permanently harm or disfigure each other, while engaging each other with disruptors with no safeties might result in disintegration (character death). Under no circumstances will one player be allowed to engage in PvP against another player against their will.
